My Daily Makeup Routine
L’oreal Lash Paradise Mascara in Mystic Black
L’oreal Brow Stylist Definer Pencil in Blonde
Physicians Formula Super BB pressed powder in Medium
Rimmel London Contour Kit in Golden Bronze
I looooove the Lash Paradise Mascara as it is a dupe for Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, but honestly I like the Lash Paradise formula 10x better! I opt for powders over liquid makeup for my face because they feel light & I don’t look or feel like I’ve caked a bunch of makeup on. Plus I think brushes are more sanitary & easier to clean than sponges. Physicians Formula pressed powders offer awesome coverage & help keep an even skin tone, which is awesome since my cheeks normally have a light pink look to them. I like using the Rimmel London Contour Kit in Golden Bronze all year round because the colors are buildable so it’s got me covered when I’m a bronzed babe or look like Elsa. Win win!
Let me rant for a sec. We’re all busy bees either with work, school, kids or all 3 & I don’t know anyone who wants to spend 30 minutes getting ready for the day. I was one of those girls in high school that would spend 45 minutes (YA you read that right) getting ready in the morning. Mostly because I was as insecure as they came back then! Throughout college, my habits followed me & I would spend 30 minutes getting ready on the weekends to go out with the girls, sometimes more. Fast forward to almost a year out of college, having a full time job & a busier schedule, I still spent all of this time on my appearance getting ready for work. But why? I’m not trying to impress anyone. I don’t feel insecure without a face of makeup anymore. Sooo why? After being in Hawaii & living like a local last month it changed my perspective. Everyone there is happy, stress free & the islanders don’t have a lot, they have what they need. I read how Psychologists discovered that clutter & having “too much” is actually linked to stress/anxiety. Both of which I deal with every day as you might have read in my post about my mental health struggles (You can read that post Here). I came home from Maui & instantly realized that I had all of this stuff that I didn’t even need. I began going through parts of my apartment, little by little, starting with my makeup. I got rid of what I didn’t wear, which was 80% of it. Don’t get me wrong, I still own a couple lipstick colors (the one I’m wearing in the picture is Strawberry Mochi from H&M & I love it), eyeliner & my favorite Jaclyn Hill Morphe pallete for when I have major events to get ready for, but I don’t need them daily to feel confident.
Before, I would use primer & concealer that I didn’t need, eyeshadow that was unnecessary, eyeliner, etc. Seriously, I would spend 20 minutes in the morning before work just doing my makeup. That’s extra time I could be using to read my daily devo or more time to eat breakfast so I don’t have to scarf it down 3 out of 5 days a week. Ever since using only what I need, I feel more relaxed because now, it takes me 7 minutes to get ready in the morning. Hallelujah! If I can still feel confident wearing only 4 items to work, to church, out with friends, on a date with Brian, why own the other stuff? I would encourage anyone to go through their makeup & purge what they haven’t worn in 6 months & what they don’t find as a necessity. If you don’t need it, why do you have it? I promise you’ll feel better without the clutter in your bathroom or on your vanity!
